We are excited to be getting in local glass artist, 1480 degrees in early May. Francine's work melds beautifully with our clothes, as it provides just the right amount of color and panache to our clothing here. Fall Preview 08 Fashion Show Recap

As mentioned in my earlier posts, we were completely consumed recently with pulling off our 5 year Anniverary celebration/Fall Preview fashion show, which occured last Thursday and Friday evenings.
What a great time we all had (owner, models, and help included!). As usual, my clients are some of the most fascinating and enchanting women I know and they made the evening just that much more special.
While we did show some new spring/summer arrivals, the focus of the evening was Fall. I was excited to introduce some new lines to the audience such as Casch Copenhagen and Lilian H - Paris. Season clothing trends were discussed as well as showing the latest looks in hair and makeup on our models Fayren, Kerstin, and Tracy (Makeup courtesy of the fantastic Fez Studio, and hair by Maggie Greener of Belle Epoque Salon.
If you missed our event, we are seriously considering presenting Spring '09 preview in November. Pencil your calenders, ladies!
(special thanks to my friend Dana t. for the photos!)

The Devil is in the details
Apologies for not posting recently. I confess to being completely immersed in our upcoming event celebrating our FIVE year anniversary. While everything is falling into place, there still seems to be a crush of details to complete.
Happily, all our wonderful vendors - Casch, IKKS France, Lilian H, and Animale are all rising to the occasion for us! I can't wait to show our finds for Fall '08.
We will also be showing new Spring items. Many items already arrived, but we are holding them back until the big day! Stay tuned for wonderful summer items by French line, Canisse. We'll post pictures next week. Promise.

Stylish Raincoat?

Style and Comfort

We love offering garments that make you look like you put forth a lot of effort, but don't. Bonus is when your clothing is supremely comfortable. This defines a "go-to" item in your wardrobe. Jarbo does this season after season with their heavenly pima cotton tee shirts. We have their asymmetric tunic (shown here) in olive, navy, mud and black.
Cop.Copine Curiosity

I admit to occasionally bringing in a piece that is a little more "conceptual" in nature than usual, but I just can't help myself sometimes. Every so often piece is just so different and quirky, I'll bring it in. "Surely," I think,"there are a couple of my customers that will completely GET this." So, the cop.copine WONDER Pant set is one of those pieces.
It's not up on the website just yet, but we'll try to get it up shortly.

The Modern Lariat

Staying on the accessories thread for a bit longer, another find we are excited about is local designer Lynn Latta's organic creations. Gorgeous in its sheer simplicity: Lynn offers up a modern take on the lariat. Constructed from fine silk thread, vintage beads, matte finish lava rock and bone, this necklace makes a wonderful, artistic graphic statement. Available in several variations of beadwork and thread color. Price: $27.

Graphic

We admit to being rather biased to simple, graphic accessories. We never got into the whole "BLING" movement. So, the result is that you will see a very edited selection at our shop. We like the pieces we have because, in our mind at least, they are nice complements to the clothing we stock.
Once in a while, a little whimsy will get our attention. Case in point, this funny little plastic ring. Charles Gibson has always been a favorite (and famous) illustrator of mine, and this ring certainly pays homage to him. All this history for only $18.

Spring=Spring Dresses

The burst of sunshine today has us hoping that Mother Nature will finally usher in Spring in earnest this time. With the promise of warm weather, our thoughts naturally turn to pretty, timeless dresses. Recent additions to the store are IKKS' black cotton dress that we have dubbed the "Audrey" dress. IKKS' Robe Shasuble is a lovely cotton confection that features an astonishing about of seaming on the bodice for that perfect fit, full a-line skirt, scooped neck and miles of style.
The wonderful ombre stripe fabric is what makes this dress. Skillfully pieced together in varying directions, this dress makes a dramatic entrance and exit. The neckline can be tied around the neck to create a dramatic funnel effect, or left open for a lovely draped neckline.
To see all the dresses we have in stock right now, go to our Dresses section of the website!
