Amy Downs Hats Return!

Currently just a smattering of hats, but Amy promises to provide us a flood as the season progresses. Lucky us!

Always joyful, with a hint of whimsy, Amy Downs' creations are sure to revive your love of millinery. Currently in-store are her sculptural hats made in terry (yes, as in terry cloth). Sounds odd, but it completely works.
Shown here are the "Dimple" and "Tam" hats. Both $76. We also have a nicely shaped unisex cap in black for $69.

Come Meet the designers of Tasi Jewelry This Saturday!

In addition to great sales on spring and summer merchandise, we have an even more noteworthy event taking place!

This weekend, I am very pleased to have Taya and Silvija of Tasi Designs in the shop to showcase their beautiful line of necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Equally as impressive as their designs is the excellent value. Earrings range from $32-$42, while necklaces are from $46-$120.

About the Designers
Taya and Silvija Koschnick design and hand-make each piece of jewelry from their studio in Portland, Oregon. Both sisters began separate jewelry lines as teenagers, and over the years developed their own original styles, while at the same time heavily influencing each other's work. They eventually realized that life is sweeter creating together, so they started Tasi Designs in 2007, a unique jewelry line that blends all of the distinct aspects from each of their respective visions.

About Their Work
Tasi Designs is a modern take on the ancient ritual of adornment. Each hand-made piece in the collection is distinct in both design and technical execution. Tasi Designs uses the highest quality materials: hand patinated precious metals, natural precious and semi- precious stones, vintage American and European components, refashioned industrial remnants, and historically rich antique and ancient tradebeads. Using these elements, Taya and Silvija create unique, striking jewelry that tells a story.

Meet the artists in person:
WHEN: Saturday August 30th from 12pm-5pm.
Tasi Jewelry will be available at Physical Element all weekend long if you can't make the trunk show.

IKKS Women almost here.....

On this odd, drippy Portland summer day I sit and anxiously await Mr. Brown to deliver the first of our IKKS shipments for Fall.

Also on the horizon is Sense's fall collection. My most anxiously anticipated item from that? Their amazing Modal fabric fashioned into this fabulous turtleneck dress/tunic in FOUR fall colors (at left).

Ah, Jewelry

I do love a good jewelry find, and thanks to an intrepid jewelry spotter (thanks Lynn!), I've had the great fortune to connect with the lovely sisters of Tasi Designs.

Stop in to see an excellent array of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets - the silver all lovingly "aged". Local designers, Taya and Silvija, merge their keen eye for modern design with varied and eccentric materials such as 1800s indian silver stampings, african metal beads, river rocks, and the occasional ancient roman glass finds.

Even better, the jewelry is very reasonably priced. Earrings range from $32-$42, while necklaces are from $46-$120.

More cop.copine arrivals!

Two new styles arrived today - just a tease - of what more is to come this fall from the wonderful cop.copine. One of those styles, the FEVE top, is a personal favorite. Taking obvious inspiration from bustiers, cop.copine has fashioned an incredibly feminine, yet edgy top that would look fabulous with jeans, trousers, or skirts.

The other style received, is the SAFRAN dress. A zip front dress in a mix of materials.

Both can be seen on our online shopping site, www.physicalelement.com. Just click SHOP and look under the New Arrivals section.

The perfect leggings for the season

These are the ultimate leggings to wear under dresses and tunics this season. Imagine them paired with the season's platform heels! With a nod to seamed stockings, cop copine’s leggings have a contrast back seam and bow at the hem. We currently have them in four colors: black, mustard, brown, and charcoal. Brown and chocolate are VERY similar in coloration – the brown just leans a bit towards the warmer side. Check them out in more detail here.
